IHC Judges

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Judges

We cannot thank our judges enough for the knowledge, experience, and expertise they bring to our events. Through their guidance and constructive feedback, our club members are able to develop their horsemanship, improve their riding skills, and continue learning while enjoying the support of our local equestrian community.

Judging is a skill that is developed through years of dedication, self discipline, education, and hands on experience. It requires a trained eye that can recognize the subtle movements of horse and rider, evaluate the effectiveness of their partnership, and assess each performance fairly and consistently. Their knowledge helps create a positive learning environment where riders of all ages and experience levels can grow and gain confidence.

We are especially grateful to our judges who generously donate their time to support our club. Their willingness to share their expertise allows us to offer quality events, educational opportunities, and meaningful feedback to our members. The success of our programs would not be possible without their commitment, generosity, and passion for the equestrian community.

From all of us at Interlakes Horse Club, thank you for helping us build better horsemen and horsewomen, strengthen our community, and inspire continued learning and growth.

Hello competitors at the Interlakes Horse Club.  My name is Cat Armitage and I have been involved in the horse industry for over 52 years as an American and Canadian Coach for Dressage, Three-Day-Eventing, Hunters & Jumpers, Western, Mountain Trail and Driving.  For over the past thirty years I have been involved in judging from Dressage to General Performance to Hunter/Jumpers to Ranch Riding to Driving to Mountain Trail, etc.

My coaching has seen me take the International Canadian Pony Club Team to China to compete against various International countries, while my regular students have competed at Regional and National and International competitions in Canada and the USA.  I am a retired Cross-Country designer but still an active course designer for Hunters and Jumpers working both in Canada and the USA (where I have designed jumper courses at FEI level – International qualifying competitions for the Olympics).

My judging has seen me working with many Olympic Judges, Course Designers and Officials, but I still love working and encouraging the grass roots groups.  Best of luck this weekend and when we are all done with the morning classes, please feel free to come and talk with me if you have any questions.

Happy to help you learn more!!!!!
